Theodora "Dora" Flynn is the daughter of Roger, a wealthy drug dealer Lestat kills in Memnoch the Devil. Raised in luxury after her father murdered her mother when she was six, Dora is aware her father was responsible for her mother's disappearance, though not aware of the exact reason why. Dora became increasingly interested in religion as a teenager, and traveled repeatedly to the Middle East during college. She becomes a televangelist as an adult, believing that soon a sign will come from God that will lead to a worldwide spiritual revival. Her program is primarily watched by women, and is broadcast out of a convent on Napoleon Avenue in New Orleans.
Two years prior to Memnoch, Dora severs ties with her father when she becomes directly aware of his criminal activity, which she had previously only suspected. When he is killed by Lestat, he returns as a ghost to ask Lestat to watch over Dora and to help ensure that his inheritance will pass to her without her ties to him becoming news. Lestat breaks into Dora's home to inform her that her father is dead at his hands, and she recognizes that he is not human immediately, though doesn't believe that God would allow her to come to harm. A few nights later he flies her to New York to handle her father's possessions, and leaves her there when he goes on his journey with Memnoch. Armand and David, asked by Lestat not to let her come to harm, watch over Dora while Lestat is gone, and the three of them are together when he returns. Lestat, missing an eye, drinks Dora's menstrual blood upon his return, and, after recovering, tells his story.
Dora asks about Lestat's encounter with Christ, and is overcome with emotion when Lestat reveals the Veil of Veronica. Taking it from the apartment to the steps of Saint Patrick's Cathedral, the image of the Veil creates the religious fervor Dora had been waiting for, which gradually dies down. Dora leaves the convent in New Orleans, St. Elizabeth's, to Lestat.
