Benjamin Mahmoud, commonly referred to as Benji, is a vampire child who first appears in The Vampire Armand.  Benji is a Palestinian Bedouin, and hired by Sybelle's brother to protect her, eventually being taken with them to New York. In 1997, when he is twelve, Benji encounters Armand when he finds him lying on a snow covered roof near the hotel near his and Sybelle's hotel. Benji is unphased by Armand's vampiric nature, helps trick a drug dealer into their hotel room to begin Armand's recovery, and becomes close with Armand once he recovers. When Armand visits New Orleans, Benji and Sybelle are left with Marius de Romanus, who transforms them into vampires, believing this to be Armand's true wishes despite Armand's protests otherwise. Benji is excited by the new possibilities of his immortal life.

Prior to Prince Lestat, Benji creates a vampire radio show, first on the radio and then as a podcast, where he becomes the central voice of vampire society and rallies younger vampires to ask for leadership from their elders. After the formation of the Court of Prince Lestat, Benji becomes Minister of Communications.

Benji's personality is energetic and unflappable. In Prince Lestat, he is said to have many human friends, who believe him to be an eclectic performance artist, and he moves through society with humans believing him to be a short, young looking adult. He dresses like a 1930's gangster, and is usually noted as wearing a fedora. He resides at Trinity Gate in New York and sometimes at the Court of Prince Lestat in France.
